The world can be dangerous. There are a lot of ruthless people doing different crimes flashed in the news. There are also some killing others for money or petty reasons. But despite this reality, there are still some people who do kind deeds and help us start having faith in humanity again. The same thing that happened to this woman from New Jersey.
Faith in Humanity Restored
As the night breaks in, Kate McClure, a New Jersey-based woman, was placed in possible danger on her way home when she ran out of gas in the middle of a highway. But the most unexpected happened: The homeless man who came to her rescue sacrificed all the money has to make it through the week used it when she got stranded in the middle of the highway.
Kate was driving on the I-95 Interstate Motorway in Philadelphia when she ran out of gas. She pulled over to check her tank, but she realized she had no money to pay for the refill.
She was then approached by a homeless man named Johnny, who, without second thoughts, helped her to pay for the gas. The man warned her that the area was unsafe and remain in the car with the doors locked before he left.
When he returned, he already had a can of petrol which he refilled with his last $20.
Repaying His Kind Deed
Touched by his sincerity and willingness to help even if it means he will have a hard time raising money for himself, Kate set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for Johnny. Due to the inspiring story, donations flooded in, quickly exceeding the $10,000 target. As of today, the funds accumulated for Johnny is almost at $390,200!
In the GoFundMe page, Kate wrote:
I never ran out of gas before, and my heart was beating out of my chest. I pulled over as far as I could and got out of the car to head to the nearest gas station.
That’s when I met Johnny. Johnny sits on the side of the road every day, holding a sign. He saw me pull over and knew something was wrong. He told me to get back in the car and lock the doors. A few minutes later, he comes back with a red gas can. Using his last 20 dollars to make sure I could get home safe.
Since the accident, Kate has been visiting Johnny and gave him a jacket, a hat, a pair of gloves, and warm socks, plus a few dollars to pay him for his kindness. She described the modern day hero as a great guy, and she is hoping to change his life. With the funds from the campaign, she is hoping to help Johnny get cash to pay for an apartment, a vehicle, and to cover for his six months worth of expenses.
He is very interested in finding a job, and I believe that with a place to be able to clean up every night and get a good night’s rest, his life can get back to being normal.
Truly believe that all Johnny needs is one little break. Hopefully, with your help, I can be the one to give it to him.
Please help this man get into a home. It is already getting so cold out in Philadelphia, and I can’t imagine what it will be like to be out there all winter. Any little bit will help.
With the money that they accumulated, they will be buying a new home that Johnny will own, his dream truck, a 1999 Ford Ranger, and two trust funds under his name: 1 to collect a small salary every year and another one for his retirement trust.
Thank you for being such an inspiration, Johnny.
